My sister has recently hooked me on Sherlock. Enough said.
“You… you told me once that you weren’t a hero. Umm,
there were times I didn’t even think you were human. But let me tell
you this, you were the best man, the most human… human being that
I’ve ever known, and no-one will ever convince me that you told me a
lie, so there. I was so alone, and I owe you so much. But, please,
there’s just one more thing, one more thing, one more miracle,
Sherlock, for me. Don’t be… dead. Would you do that just for me?
Just stop it. Stop this.” – John Watson at the end of Season 2
(One of the things I think our culture lacks is the concept that two men can be very good friends and not romantically involved. We’re okay with woman being close without being involved, but if men are we automatically assume they’re gay. This really robs us of the idea of brotherhoods. I love the concept of brotherhoods, probably because my Mom read Lord of the Rings to me at a very impressionable age, and I read Westward Ho! shortly there after. I hate how we reduce this amazing relationship down to a romance when it’s something far stronger, purer, and higher. Let them be men and let them be friends.)
